Theatre Lighting Designer

Lighting In development macOS · Windows

Light plot, paperwork, photometrics, and console patch — all from one file.

Theatre Lighting Designer unifies the three tools a theatrical lighting designer normally keeps in separate apps: 2D/3D plotting, paperwork, and photometric prediction. Everything runs off one shared data model, so an artistic decision becomes paperwork, patch, and previs with no re-keying — and it exchanges shows with existing toolchains via GDTF, MVR, USITT ASCII, and an OSC link to ETC Eos.

  • One shared model behind the plot, paperwork, photometrics, and patch — no syncing between apps, with global undo/redo
  • 2D light plot with a matching 3D view: hanging positions, GDTF fixture symbols, and click-to-place / click-to-aim focusing
  • Live paperwork: instrument schedules, channel hookups, worksheets, and color/gobo cross-reference with a built-in gel and gobo library
  • Photometric prediction: GDTF/IES beam data, illuminance grids in lux and foot-candles, false-color views, and coverage analysis
  • “Sculpt with light” authoring: build a look from named systems that auto-place, aim, gel, channel, and patch in one undoable step
  • Industry-standard interchange: GDTF and MVR import/export, USITT ASCII import, a Lightwright XML bridge, and PDF output
  • ETC Eos integration: send patch, channel labels, groups, and a cue per look over OSC, plus auto-generated magic sheets
